Em documento, o presidente do Tribunal de Contas da União (TCU), Bruno Dantas, afirma que determinou à Secretaria Geral de Controle Externo a realização de auditoria proposta pelo ministro Vital do Rego, em parceria com a CGU, para que sejam avaliadas as causas da vulnerabilidade dos povos indígenas, em especial os Yanomami.
“O Brasil tem assistido estarrecido notícias veiculadas sobre a crise sanitária e humanitária na maior terra indígena do país no Estado de Roraima, onde vivem os Yanomami. Diante dessa situação, considero oportuno trazer ao Plenário relato das atividades desempenhadas por esta Casa, destacando, dentro de nossa competência, ações que ratificam a preocupação do TCU com a melhoria da qualidade de vida da referida população”, diz o documento.
O presidente do TCU afirma, no documento, que em novembro de 2021 o ministro Vital do Rego propôs a realização de fiscalização a fim de levantar as fragilidades e as oportunidades de aprimoramento à política de combate a extração de ouro ilegal na região, com o aumento da fragilidade socioambiental dos povos indígenas.
